Air is Technology

I just learned this, Air is Technology, thanks to Office Depot.
I had an office depot discount coupon and was trying to get to the dollar level where the coupon would save me a few bucks.
So, along with my office supplies I decided to throw in some compressed air to help clean my computer equipment. At the register I was told that “Air is a Technology item” and therefore would not apply to the office depot discount coupon.
Now what causes air compressed in a can to become a technology item?
Does Al Gore have stock in Office Depot?

Emo Google

Last month I mentioned Google Gothic (GooGoth.com) and made a joke about “I guess the next thing is an Emo version of Google.”.
Obviously I did not do my homework on the subject because Emo Google is online.
Now, if you are wondering why I even mention this, I found the data on Emo Google to be interesting. Here is a site that has 1 page and let’s look at some numbers.

1 Page indexed by Google
NO outbound links
Page Rank 3
All sub / leaf pages are a Google hosted Custom Search Engine

Probably the most interesting fact is that they they are using [...]

Wordpress Excerpt Plugin

I created this little plugin for my own use, and after reading today’s post over at HackWordPress.com it reminded me that Garry Conn had asked me if I was going to publish it, so it here it is.
I like to use the the_excerpt() instead of the_content() in several places on a blog. However, I did not like the fact that the_excerpt was only showing 55 characters. I could change it in the Wordpress code, but then everytime I update the blog with a new version of Wordpress I have to remember that the change is there.
CyberExcerpt is simply a copy [...]

Video Blogs

Is 2008 going to be the breakout year for Video Blogs?
Video Blogs are also referred to as Vlogs, although I am not sure that rolls off the tongue as well as Blogs, and they have been gaining ground over the past year or so. Two big factors fueling this are the cost of digital video cameras and the purchase of YouTube by Google. Face it, if Google buys it, it must be something worth looking in to, and everyone rushes in.
Mike over at MusicRamble.com posted a small list of Music YouTube Channels and it is obvious that a lot of [...]

Wordpress Themes versus Heat Maps

If you look at most heat maps for advertising on the Internet you will notice that people read blogs just like they read anything else. Left to right. The hot spots on a heat map almost always show that the top left is the hottest spot on a website.
So why are most Wordpress Themes designed where the sidebars and advertisements are on the right side?
I have seen some great looking themes lately, but they are typically still designed backwards. One argument for this is that with the content on the far left the visitor is more likely to read the [...]
