Google Maps Real Estate

Last month Google released their Real Estate search functionality for Google Maps. The information is fed by Google Base.
At first this may seem to be a very limited structure since a lot of Real Estate Agents/Brokers do not post their listing to Google Base. However, the trend for the last few years is for Real Estate Agents to use systems that syndicate their listings to several sources including Google Base, so there are a lot of listings in the system. This will probably be a good catalyst in convincing more Real Estate Agents to use these syndication services.

What Time Is It In?

While working with people in other locations around the world I have had trouble keeping up with the time differences.
A quick trick that can help with quickly knowing what time it is somewhere else is using Google to show you the current time anywhere in the world.
It has been reported that Time: is an “advanced operator”, although it is not listed on the Advanced Google Search Operators page.

Redneck Google

Based on the fact that I have received some pretty mean spirited emails about my posts on Gothic Google and Emo Google I thought I should give equal coverage to those who I believe are sending those emails.
And I will admit that Redneck Google (also known as Hoogle) looks to have a little more technology than either of the Gothic or Emo pages. Each of those pages are simply a cover page that leads to regular Google results using a Google Custom Search Engines.

Twitter in the SERPS

While browsing my analytics I noticed a search someone had performed at Google for digsby or pidgin.
Nothing real earth shattering there, but what I did find interesting is that when I followed that search, the very first result is a status page from Twitter.

More and more we ares seeing Social Networking and now Micro Blogging pages get good results in the SERPS. So if you think that what you type in Twitter will only be seen in Twitter, think again. This should be another reason to consider using Twitter as a Social additive to your blogging. Not only can you [...]

Why is Google Black

The standard Google home page is set on black today, March 29th, 2008 because….
Google users in the United States will notice today that we “turned the lights out” on the Google.com homepage as a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour.

I have to admit I tend to think the whole “Green” movement has gotten out of hand and typically goes beyond the point of doing anything constructive. However, this just may get more attention than Al Gore at Live Earth.
Other bloggers have taken notice and given their opinions.
Mashable : Black is the New Green: [...]
